Mediterranean Sea Delights: Turkey Sea Kayaking
Suggested Itineray: 13-day trip ~ 7 days kayak expedition;
5 days gulet cruise ~ Grade: Moderate+ - prior paddling experience
is required
This
paddling holiday along Turkey's Mediterranean coast offers
a sea kayaking paradise with a smorgasbord of history and
culture. Using plastic kayaks (mostly singles) our first 7
days are a self-contained sea kayak trip from Köycegiz Lake
to Göcek Bay. Camping under the stars on remote beaches, paddling
beneath Lycian tombs carved into sheer cliffs, hiking up rugged
hills for expansive views, swimming, visiting hot springs
and exploring ancient ruins, we experience a wild and natural
area of Turkey.
At Göcek, we board a comfortable gulet (traditional
motor sailor) for a cruise to Kemer, with onboard sea kayaks
for optional day paddles. We take in Turkey's ancient cities,
royal tombs and historic sites like Gemiler, Simena, Olimpos
and Phaselis. At the delightful harbour town of Kas we explore
narrow alleyways, carpet emporiums and cafes. Of course, there's
also time to swim and relax.
MEDITERRANEAN JOURNEYS FOR 2009: We offer a number of different adventures to explore this magical region. For a group of six or more, we can help organise the charter of a gulet, a traditional wooden motor sailor, for a combination of kayaking, hiking and boating. We offer private group departures for all our Turkish itineraries, a wonderful way to holiday with friends and family. Or, for something different, we can organize tailored itineraries including kayak trips from three to eight days in length. Contact us for dates and prices.
