Russian Arctic Exploration
13 day trip ~ 9-10 days kayaking ~ Grade: Moderate

Wild mountain landscapes, remote tundra, indigenous cultures and
profuse wildlife draw us deep into the Russian Arctic. Dramatic cliffs
swarming with sea birds, walrus breeding sites
and one of the world’s main denning areas for polar bears entice us through the Bering Strait,
across the Arctic Circle to Wrangel Island.
Wrangel Island Nature Reserve is the final jewel with snow geese, spoon-billed sandpipers,
muskox, polar bear, arctic wolves and huge seabird colonies.
This is our first exploratory voyage to these areas, with the itinerary a guideline and open to
further adventures. With kayaks we will paddle in tundra river systems, in pack ice, underneath
towering cliffs and visit traditional Chukchi villages. VERY few have been privileged to kayak in
these waters. Don’t miss this one!
