From the Russian town of Korsakov, we journey along the giant volcanic stepping-stones of the Kuril Islands to the vast wilderness of the Kamchatka Peninsula. Large seabird colonies, rich marine life, primeval spruce forest, active smoking volcanoes and hot springs are some of the
treats we experience on this wild and remote voyage. Expedition cruising and adventure kayaking allows us to visit world heritage sites and protected reserves. Numerous bays reveal sea otter and sea lion colonies and coastlines favoured by the Kunashir brown bear. Each day holds the promise of marine mammal encounters whilst the air is alive with guillemots, kittiwakes, puffins, auklets and eagles.
At Kamchatka we’ll move from coastal sea stacks to long sweeping coastlines dotted with
extensive river systems and lagoons overshadowed by a towering volcanic skyline.
